in recognition of especially innovative cast parts for the first time Applications can be submitted up to 30 April 2007
Following its successful premiere, NEWCAST – International Castings Trade Fair with NEWCAST Forum – is powerfully entering the second round: from 12 to 16 June 2007, in the Düsseldorf Exhibition Centre halls, foundry specialists from all over the world will present the latest technical developments in the area of cast products. In this connection, Messe Düsseldorf is awarding a prize in recognition of especially innovative cast parts for the first time. Drawing on the diversity of the cast parts shown, the International NEWCAST Award is aimed at particularly honouring those entries, which display the advantages of the cast parts in an outstanding way and in competition with other manufacturing processes. In this context the Award will be presented in three categories: the cast part with the best functional integration, the best substitution of another production process and also the best foundry-technology solution by extending the limits of foundry technology. The project partners of the newly created, international award are: VDG (German Foundrymen Association/Verein Deutscher Gießereifachleute e.V.), DGV (German Foundry Association/Deutscher Gießereiverband e.V.) and GDM (Umbrella Association of German Non-Ferrous Metal Foundries/Gesamtverband Deutscher Metallgießereien e.V.). On an international level the Award is being supported and promoted by the European Foundry Association CAEF and the WFO (World Foundrymen Organization).
Participation is open to all those exhibitors at NEWCAST 2007 presenting products at the international trade fair. The companies are allowed to submit a total of up to three cast parts for the competition from the sectors of vehicle production, mechanical engineering, construction engineering as well as electronics/electrical engineering. The jury, which will view and assess all the cast parts submitted, consists of experts from the VDG “Cast Parts Design” specialist committee.
NEWCAST offers designers and buyers an optimal overview and exchange: In the immediate vicinity of the associated technology fairs GIFA, METEC and THERMPROCESS, at NEWCAST 2007 all cast parts will be represented - produced using all casting materials and according to all conventional, standard processes. “In addition to tried-and-tested components, manufacturers at NEWCAST 2007 will also present products which have an unbelievably innovative additional benefit. We wish to particularly highlight these efforts and have therefore initiated the International NEWCAST Award”, said Friedrich-Georg Kehrer, Project Director at NEWCAST 2007, summing up the decision to present such an award.
Registration for the International NEWCAST Award is initially concluded on an electronic basis. On the NEWCAST website under www.newcast.de, a corresponding registration form can be downloaded and completed. The closing date for entries is 30 April 2007. The prize presentation will be held on 16 June 2007 within the NEWCAST Forum in Hall 10 at the Düsseldorf Exhibition Centre.
