Reading time: min

According to Mexico Steel &Iron Industries Association, Mexico's steel export volume in 2009 is expected to reduce by 21% YoY to 13.6 million tonnes as compared with the same period of last year due to falling demand in US market.

Mr PS Venkataramanann CEO of ArcelorMittal Mexico and also chairman of Mexico Steel &Iron Industries Association indicated that Mexico is affected mostly by the decreasing foreign trade and industry output in America.

However, it is expected that the steel consumption will be increased by 14.5% to 21 million tonnes in 2010 as the government announced to invest in some big energy projects which will require large quantities of steel materials.
