Reading time: min

The North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) is being held at the COBO Center, Detroit, Michigan, from January 12 to 25, 2015. KSPG AG, a German first-tier supplier with subsidiaries in the USA and Mexico, is displaying in room 353 components and assemblies for cars, light- and medium-duty commercial vehicles.

Included among its exhibition highlights are steel pistons, exhaust-gas recirculation systems, and high-duty plain bearings. All these products play an important role in fuel and emission reduction as well as "clean diesels." Also being showcased are oil, coolant and vacuum pumps designed to address growing cooling requirements posed by today's engine generations. Pierburg in Auburn Hills, Michigan, is responsible for the marketing and engineering of these pumps; production for the American market is at the Pierburg pump plant in the federal state of Guanajuato, Mexico.

The KSPG Group (Kolbenschmidt Pierburg), which represents the Mobility sector within Germany's Rheinmetall Group, has annual sales of €2.46 billion (2013) and ranks among the 100 biggest auto-industry suppliers worldwide. Some 12,000 employees at around 40 production plants in Europe, the Americas, Japan, India and China develop and manufacture components, modules and assemblies for the drive systems of present and future vehicles. Some eleven percent of sales is generated with North American customers and about 1,700 employees work in the USA and Mexico.

Each year, NAIAS (North American International Auto Show) is the first big automotive fair and also the occasion for the presentation of its "Ten Best Engines" awards for benchmark engines by the US trade magazine Ward's AutoWorld.
