Opportunity in Romania – First class Swiss owned Aluminium Foundry for Sale

Reading time: min

S.C. Alu Metall Guss s.r.l. (“AMG Romania”) was established on green field in 2010 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Swiss foundry “AMG - Alu Metall Guss AG, Gontenschwil”. AMG Romania is currently under German management and benefits from over 100 years in aluminium sand casting experience of the Swiss mother company.

Due to succession planning, the company in Romania is now for sale.

AMG Romania is producing aluminium sandcasting of 50 – 500 kg per piece, using semi-automatic forming machinery. The company is equipped with first class machines, mainly of German or Italian origin. Amongst others, it is operating well-maintained equipment made by IMF, Wöhr, Neuhof, Stahl + Demag, Hindenlang, Foseco, Balzer and Walter.

Today, AMG Romania has a yearly capacity of approx. 2,500 metric tons in two shifts. It is operated in one shift with 45 qualified employees. Extension up to three shifts is possible. It produces high-quality parts for customers in the energy, railway, and medical sectors, and is fully licensed for its operations.

The plant was built in 2010 as a greenfield project on a site totaling 60,000 square meters, operating in a building with a 6,000 square meter production workshop with 1,000 square meters of office space. Foundations for a second production building have already been laid. In total, the overall production facilities can be expanded by 6 times, compared to today’s premises.

AMG Romania is located in South-West Romania, 50 km South of Timisoara International Airport, with numerous daily direct flights to Germany, Italy, and other West European destinations. It is close to the main East-West road connection, with a distance of only 1,000 km to Munich, Germany. Romania is a full member of the European Union, thereby presenting advantages for exporting to European customers. Compared to Western Europe, production cost is on a highly competitive level; skilled labour is available locally.

The company is family owned. Due to succession planning, the owner is looking for a party interested in taking over the entire company, including production facilities, land, and business. The company is well-suited to ideally complement an existing foundry operating in a high-cost country as a low-cost production base within the European Union. It is also perfect as an entry point in the European Union market for a non-EU business; the company can also be operated on a stand-alone basis, and presents considerable potential for expansion in a booming region of Europe.
