It is reported that the new melting and casting unit for large sized aluminum ingots production with capacity of 60,000 tonnes per year was launched at the Kamensk-Uralsk Metallurgical Works / KUMZ, Sverdlovsk region.
The new unit with the construction cost of about RUB 700 million is one of the most advanced in the industry.
Mr Alexander Misharin the governor of the Sverdlovsk region said this is another step towards the regional enterprises modernization and it is very important that the plant managed to implement this project.
The launch of the new unit will save up to 12% of electric energy and up to 15 per cent of natural gas. In addition, a new rolling mill construction is planned to be built in future. Upon its launch KUMZ will become the only enterprise in the country capable of producing aluminum semi-finished products of world standard quality.
