In an on-going commitment to quality and excellence, FTL Foundry Equipment Ltd is one of the first companies in the foundry sector to receive accreditation for a new European standard for steelwork.
CE marking for structural steel to BSEN 1090-1 is now mandatory for products sold on the EU construction market, including any company manufacturing steel frame or structural steel components. Championing the move, FTL achieved BSEN 1090-1-1:2009+A1:2011 for the execution of steel and aluminium structures in March this year, having already achieved ISO 90001:2008 status for operating a Quality Management System for the design and manufacture of foundry mechanical and material handling plant and equipment a month earlier.
Managing director Brian Griffiths said: “The CE marking standard fits in well with ISO 9001:2008 and we were keen to achieve them both to remain a preferred supplier for many companies.”
Based in Willenhall in the UK, FTL has built a long-standing reputation for delivering robust moulding and material handling solutions for foundries and recycling companies in the UK, Europe, Russia and other parts of the world and this latest accreditation highlights the company’s desire to make the choice of supplier easier for customers.
Brian Griffiths continued: “You can’t ignore this standard, as it is now starting to be enforced and those companies which haven’t achieved certification will need to source work out to suitably qualified subcontractors. Everyone in the supply chain needs to show they have this regulation in place and we were determined to get it under our belt early on.”
CE accreditation has been in place for some time but this latest declaration of performance specific to steelwork highlights FTL’s commitment to remaining at the forefront of compliance.
