Turkish industrial production index in January up MoM

According to the data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute, in January 2010 Turkey's monthly calendar adjusted industrial production index increased by 16.1% YoY, while seasonal and calendar adjusted industrial production index rose slightly by 0.3% compared to previous month.

Among the various industrial sectors in Turkey, the calendar adjusted production index in the mining sector in January 2010 declined by 0.6% YoY and was down 3.9% MoM, while the index for the manufacturing sector surged by 19.1% compared to January 2009 and was up 0.7% over December 2009.

In the month in question, the index for the manufacture of basic metals decreased by one percent year on year and was down 3.54% over December, while the index for the manufacture of fabricated metal products rose by 18.02% YoY and was down 16.68% compared to the previous month.
