Aerospace supplier in line for Leadership, Performance recognition
US Aluminum Castings has been named a semi-finalist in the <link http: www.foundry-planet.com catalogue-of-suppliers.html _top external-link-new-window>Supplier Excellence Alliance (SEA) 2010 Aerospace & Defense Supply Chain Awards, according to management at the Entiat, WA, foundry. The awards will be presented at the SEA Gala Awards Ceremony next month in Indian Wells, CA.

The SEA is a non-profit trade association of primary and tier-one aerospace and defense manufacturers, led by “sub-tier suppliers committed to accelerating supply chain performance.”  According to SEA, it provides certification that creates more visibility and new business opportunities for suppliers and increases performance, reduces risk, and enhances value for customers.

This year’s award program involves over 720 companies nominated by aerospace vendors, Tier 1 suppliers, and aerospace OEM buyers (Boeing, Airbus, Raytheon, BAE, etc.) in five categories: Leadership & Culture, Supply Chain Innovation, Workforce Development, Operational Excellence, and Most Improved Using SEA Metrics. USAC is a finalist for the SEA Leadership & Culture Award and the SEA Performance Award: Most Improved Using SEA Metrics.

The nominations were followed by detailed questionnaires specific to each award.  From those completed questionnaires only 69 entries (among 720) are in line for the final presentation.

The selection process was conducted by a panel of aerospace industry veterans provided by the Service Core of Retired Executives.  The questionnaires were “scrubbed” of any references to the nominated company, its employees or location.  The selection committee reviewed and scored each submission individually.  Among each of the five categories, only the top 2% by score were selected as semi-finalists.

USAC, in Entiat, WA, is a business unit of the Philadelphia-based Advanced Metals Group, and manufactures no-bake, permanent mold, lost foam, and green sand castings for aerospace, trucking, defense, and general commercial markets.
