US - Konecranes to go for more layoffs

Reading time: min

It is reported that Konecranes has started a new series of statutory negotiations regarding possible temporary and permanent layoffs at Konecranes Service Corporation in Finland, having removed 10 permanent staff in similar negotiations last summer.

On June 5th 2009, Konecranes announced that it had reduced the permanent workforce at Konecranes Service Corporation by 10, as well as making a number of temporary layoffs. The new talks are expected to affect around 15 employees.

Konecranes said that the decision to start new negotiations is due to the continued weak demand for maintenance services in the Finnish market, and this employee reduction will further adjust the company’s cost structure and capacity to match market demand, and secure its future competitiveness.
