USA - Downsizing deals - Bowmer and Kirkland to cut 25 more jobs

Reading time: min

It is reported that Bowmer & Kirkland is set to cut 25 more jobs at its steel fabrications business. It earlier made 25 redundancies in May 2009.

Mr Nick Milestone director of B&K Steel Fabrications said that "The steel fabrication industry is currently going through a downturn and the needs of our clients are changing. We have had to realign our business to offer clients the more environmentally friendly option of timber frames."

It added that "Unfortunately, this has meant that we have had to make redundancies to safeguard jobs and ensure that when the current economic climate changes, we will remain in a competitive position. We have made 50 redundancies since May, all of which were from the manufacturing side of the company."

A company spokeswoman said that there were no current plans to make redundancies anywhere else in the Bowmer & Kirkland group.
