Multiple fire departments remain on the scene of Advanced Cast Products this morning following a reported explosion and fire at the company’s facility in Vernon Township.
Multiple departments were called just after 4:30 a.m. when an explosion and fire were reported at the foundry located outside of Meadville.
There are no known injuries, according to a dispatcher at the Crawford County 911 Center.
Advanced Cast Products is a ductile iron foundry with about 185 employees. The company casts, machines and heat treats iron.
It makes about 10,000 tons of equipment annually use inheavy trucks and construction equipment and parts for the railroad and mining industries.
In November, Advanced Cast Products received the 2017 Governor’s Award for Safety Excellence for its safety record.
