The combined showcase spanned products, technologies and solutions from and for all areas of the foundry, iron, steel and non-ferrous metals industries. The event featured 1,020 exhibitors (2016: 985), including 621 from beyond Turkey, and occupied some 21,000 square meters (226,000 sq. ft.) of net display space. The event is held every two years and is organized by Hannover Messe Ankiros Fuarcilik A.S., a subsidiary company of Deutsche Messe AG, Hannover, Germany.
“The event format involves showcasing three related industries ‘under one roof’, and I am pleased to say that it has once again commanded strong support and delivered extensive synergy benefits,” commented Andreas Luttmann, Director Global Fairs, Deutsche Messe. “With its high exhibitor numbers, impressive array of innovations and strong visitor turnout, the three-show cluster has strengthened its position as the leading trade fair for the Turkish and Eurasian metallurgy market.”
The exhibitors at Ankiros showcased an array of innovative of products, machines and technologies for the foundry, iron and steel industries. At Annofer, the exhibitors presented a comprehensive lineup of products, machinery and technology for the non-ferrous metals industry. And Turkcast was used by the foundry industry to showcase its products and inform visitors of the latest developments in casting technology, molds, foundry equipment and dosing systems.
The exhibitors praised the event for the high quality of its visitors, who were noticeably impressed with the wide range of products, technologies and solutions on show. “The mood among the exhibitors was very upbeat. In fact, many manufacturers have told us that the visitor quality was even better than last time,” Luttmann said. “They were able to make top-notch contacts and initiate new projects with good prospects of successful post-show business.”
These sentiments were echoed by Nazario Ghislandi, Sales Manager, Foundry Ecocer, Italy: The ANKIROS International fair is now a key fixture for the foundry industry. It’s targeted primarily at the Turkish market, of course, but it also attracts foreign visitors from important markets, like India, Russia, North African countries and others. The show is a winning combination, comprising exhibitions of innovative castings, machinery, consumables and foundry technologies, plus an extensive supporting program of seminars and technical presentations. The Foundry Ecocer showcase met with keen interest on the part of attendees, thus enabling us to further enhance our customer relationships generate many promising new leads.”
As well as exhibitions, the three-show cluster comprised various forums, which focused on the latest industry trends and provided a platform for quality industry dialogue. Highlights here included the 10th International Foundry Congress, organized by the Turkish foundry industry association TÜDÖKSAD, and the 19th International Metallurgy and Materials Congress, organized by the Union of Chambers of Turkish Architects and Engineers (UCTEA). The forum presentations focused on key technologies as well as such topics as the use of new processes and technologies to reduce costs and boost profitability, and energy-efficient processes in the foundry industry.
