The foundation, which is managed by the TU Bergakademie Freiberg, supports the practice-oriented training and research of future engineers with, among other things, a "tailor-made scholarship" for the promotion of young scientists and a "Prof. Eckart Flemming Prize "for outstanding doctoral theses, diploma theses, master theses or student papers.
Prof. Dr. Wolf-Dieter Schneider has long been associated with the TU Bergakademie Freiberg. In 1998 he became a board member of the "Association of Friends and Sponsors of the Bergakademie Freiberg e.V." and since 2000 has also been involved in teaching at the Freiberger Foundry Institute, where in 2007 he was appointed honorary professor for foundry technology processes.
With his wife Ursula, who passed away in 2017, he founded the foundation fund 12 years ago. "Ursula and Prof. Dr. med. Wolf-Dieter Schneider "for the promotion of research and teaching in engineering and economics in Freiberg.
