Lightweight Casting 2018

Innovative solutions to increase efficiency in the value chain

Reading time: min

Lighter, better, more efficient: for the twelfth time, Hanser Verlag is organizing the renowned symposium and invites foundry experts from all over Germany and neighboring countries to Lightweight Casting 2018 - this time to Bad Gögging. A promising lecture program is also planned for this year, and a highlight of the event will be a visit to Audi‘s structural parts production facility.

The conference will take place November 6-7th 2018 in Bad Gögging with the theme "Innovative solutions to increase efficiency in the value chain" and focuses on these key areas:

• Innovative die casting technology in application and simulation
• Foundry in the digital transformation
• Concepts with a future: materials and processes

The concept of lightweight construction has always been an intrinsic part of German engineering. In order to sustainably strengthen and expand production as well as technological advantage in Germany, a high-wage location, it is important to consistently find and use innovative solutions for greater efficiency along the entire value chain. For this reason, the focus of "Leichtbau in Guss 2018" is, among others, the innovations in die-casting technology, which are presented as examples in application as well as simulation. As advancing digitization poses new challenges for the foundry industry, further lectures will be devoted to the topic of foundry in the digital revolution. Fit for the future also in terms of materials and processes - concepts with a future represent the third focal point within the two-day event. As a highlight, the participants can expect a tour of the Audi structural parts production in Münchsmünster (limited number of participants).

Among the speakers this year are AUDI AG, BMW Group, ExOne GmbH, KRÄMER + GREBE GmbH & Co. KG Modellbau, MAGMA GmbH, Oskar Frech GmbH + Co. KG and RWP GmbH.

The conference will be chaired by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Wolfram Volk and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Hartmut Hoffmann (Chair of Forming Technology and Foundry Technical University of Munich).

The advisory board also includes: Dr.-Ing. Erwin Flender (MAGMA Foundry Technology GmbH), Dr.-Ing. Andreas Fent (BMW Group Dingolfing), Thomas Heller (BMW Group Landshut) Prof. Dr.-Ing. Lothar Kallien (Aalen University), Peter Wanke (Audi AG), Cesare Troglio (BDG Federal Association of the German Foundry Industry)
