The DIN Academy and VDMA, the German Engineering Federation, will host a joint conference on the Machinery Directive in Berlin on 12 June 2012. Participants will have a chance to learn about current developments in the field of mechanical engineering.
Beuth Verlag, the publishing house of DIN the German Institute for Standardization, issues a
quarterly journal called "maschinenrichtlinie aktuell" covering all aspects of the Machinery Directive. The journal's editors - a group of experts who are well-known in Germany as an excellent source for specialist information in this area - have organized a conference together with the DIN Academy and VDMA that will serve as a forum for in-depth discussions of current developments surrounding the Directive.
The conference will focus on the interplay between legislation and technology. One topic to be discussed are the liability issues involved when there are deviations from the relevant standards, especially regarding the new German Product Safety Act which came into effect on 1 January 2011. The Ecodesign Directive, which is bringing significant changes to the mechanical engineering sector, will also be a topic for discussion. Other subjects to be covered include practical experience with CE marking management and IT-based risk assessment and design.
Specialists from private companies, technical associations and the public sector will present the most important developments in legislation regulating the mechanical engineering industry and the implications for users. There will also be time for more in-depth discussions and question-and-answer periods encouraging participant involvement.
Machinery manufacturers, operators and designers, engineering consultants, technical editors, specialists in risk assessment and product conformity, anyone involved in CE marking, and quality managers alike will find participation at the conference highly beneficial.
Please note: The conference will be held in German!
