Airbus Helicopters has started building the plant at Ghimbav, close to the central city of Brasov, where it will produce Super Puma MK1 helicopters from 2017. The investment amounts to EUR 40 million.
The company kicked off the construction of the assembly factory last month, even if it hasn’t officially announced it yet, reports local Bzb.ro.
Airbus will build the plant on a 27,000 sqm plot offered by IAR Ghimbav, a company controlled by the Romanian state.
IAR Ghimbav, which will be the factory’s main supplier, will also invest EUR 11 million in the new plant. The industrial hall will cover over 8,550 sqm.
