Lesedauer: min

Amite, La. – Bradken announced today that it is expanding its manufacturing facility in Amite, Louisiana. The Amite facility manufactures and machines large, complex steel castings, for application across several industries, including mining, construction, dredge, oil & gas and marine.

This expansion of the Amite facility will enable Bradken to increase its capabilities and capacity to produce customized steel cast products, and to continue to grow with our strong customer base. The expansion includes extending the foundry building and installing key manufacturing equipment, such as molding equipment, cranes and furnaces,” said Mr. Armstrong, President and COO of Bradken’s North American division. “The decision to choose the Amite facility for this expansion was made easier due to our existing excellent workforce base and the assistance and benefits provided by the Louisiana Department of Economic Development,” continued Mr. Armstrong.

The expansion represents a capital investment of approximately $18.1 million and is expected to be completed in about 18 months. The expansion includes a 160’ extension of the existing molding/core making area, and will approximately double Amite’s molding capacity, improve product flow and enable increased utilization of downstream manufacturing areas. Once complete and operational, the facility is expected to employ approximately 350.

“This expansion is an investment and commitment to support our customers,” said Kevin McDermed, President of the Industrial Division of Bradken’s North American operations. “We need to expand our capacity to meet the long-term demand of our customers and the growing markets they serve and are pleased to have the opportunity to undertake such a significant expansion to our operations. Our strong customer base serves world-wide markets, which are projected to grow. We want to be in a position to meet those demands,” continued Mr. McDermed.

“This strategic investment will provide added flexibility between our North American manufacturing facilities, and through transfer of product, enable us to manufacture Bradken wear products at other of our facilities,” concluded Mr. Armstrong.
