Scania is investing about SEK 1.5 billion in a new foundry in Södertälje, Sweden, in order to triple production capacity and achieve a 50 percent reduction in energy consumption compared to the technology and methods used in the current foundry. Through more efficient materials handling and recycling, a sharp reduction will also be achieved in the transport need per manufactured unit.
One of the ways Scania is increasing production and improving efficiency is through a DIDION® Rotary Sand Reclaimer that crushes, scrubs, screens and classifies large chemically bonded lumps down to grain size while separating tramp metal and debris. Additional system benefits are easy installation, a simple, smooth drive system, rugged and reliable performance and low maintenance costs. Onsite delivery for the DIDION® Rotary Sand Reclaimer at the new Scania foundry location is scheduled for December.
