In pre-COVID times, many of our users from the ASEAN region used to fly from their home countries to Singapore or Malaysia to attend this annual event organized by MAGMA. However, due to this pandemic,
the travel restrictions and health concerns made this impossible. That was the reason why MAGMA decided to organize this first-of-its-kind virtual User Group Meeting in ASEAN to continue to offer a platform for our customers to share their MAGMASOFT® success stories focusing on robust manufacturing processes and resolving their casting issues.

The event started with a welcome speech delivered by Mr. Jan Eilers, General Manager of MAGMA Engineering Asia-Pacific with a virtual tour specially filmed to introduce the team members, office premises and training facilities in Singapore. In the two-day program agenda, we had 17 technical presentations being delivered by various MAGMA users and the MAGMA team, outlining the latest advancements in the metal casting industry and benefits of the recent launches of MAGMASOFT®.

In the event, MAGMA shared several news, such as the online learning platform, i.e. Learning World, Implementation Program, MAGMA Research & Developments activities as well as the latest version of the
MAGMASOFT® 5.5 to the participants. On top of that, the invited partners of MAGMA were also given speaking opportunities in the event itself. There were attendees from a total of 8 countries and more than 100 participants from various industries – automotive, engineering, mining, education, manufacturing and jewellery, attended the event.

Mr. Eric Prasetya from PT. Astra Honda Motor has been selected as the Best Presenter in this event. His presentation topic was “Reduce Oil Leakage on Left Crank Case using Design of Experiment”. He will win a return economic class flight ticket and two night’s accommodation to the next ASEAN UGM in Singapore. In addition to his contribution, we also had presenters from CR Mining, Astra Honda Motor, Preformed Line Products, Hebei North Casting Industry, Akebono Brake Astra and Thai Chanathorn Industry who presented their stories on how they successfully utilized MAGMASOFT® in their casting process and optimization on their application.
