Pakistan - EDB forms working group for foundry industry

ISLAMABAD: Chief Executive Officer, Engineering Development Board (EDB), Asad Elahi has announced a formation of working group under chairmanship of Sikandar Mustafa Khan, Chairman Pakistan <link http: www.foundry-planet.com _top external-link-new-window>Foundry Association for development of the sector.

He announced this in second international foundry conference, while chairing its technical session. He added that foundry plays an important role in progress of engineering industry therefore, EDB has decided to help it in evolving its strategic plan for the development of the industry through this working group. He assured that the Board would take necessary policy initiatives in the light of recommendations of the working group.

Meanwhile, the EDB chief assured the auto industry that the government has every desire to help the auto manufacturers and vendor industry in overcoming the current difficult situation and achieve higher levels of output. He was talking to the delegation of Pakistan Auto Manufacturers Association (PAMA) who called on him today here in order to apprise about the present scenario of Auto Industry. Elahi said that the EDB has already initiated the steps to provide the necessary relief to the industry. In this regard, he referred to recent decision of Federal Bureau of Revenue to remove condition of 35 percent advance LC policy adopted in Auto Industry Development Programme.
