Combined stand at ALUEXPO 2013 successfully showcases UAE primary aluminium sector's products and reduction technologies

United Arab Emirates:
The joint participation ofDubai Aluminium (" DUBAL ") and Emirates Aluminium ("EMAL") at the 3rd Aluminium Technologies, Machinery and Products Trade Fair ("ALUEXPO 2013") - which took place in Istanbul, Turkey from 3 to 6 October 2013 - achieved its overall objectives. Awareness was raised of the two primary aluminium smelters' strong geographic position to serve the growing markets in Eurasia, with the ultimate aim of increasing market share in the manufacturing and construction sectors while continuing to serve the manufacturers of automotive parts in the region. Specific emphasis was thus placed on promoting the two businesses' combined portfolio of premium purity, high quality value-added products, which comprise high purity sow and ingot, extrusion billet, foundry alloy, bus bar and anode bar, and sheet ingot.

The combined capacity of DUBAL and EMAL illustrates the strength of the UAE's primary aluminium sector. With total worldwide sales of 1,839,419 tonnes of cast metal products, DUBAL and EMAL together accounted for almost 4 per cent of the estimated 47.1 million tonnes of global production in 2012. The UAE's production also equated to 50 per cent of the 3.7 million tonnes produced in the greater Gulf region (itself equivalent to 7.8 per cent of global production in 2012). Once EMAL Phase II is fully commissioned at the end of 2014, the total volume of UAE-produced aluminium will amount to approximately 2.4 million tonnes per year.

Acknowledging the opportunities provided by ALUEXPO 2013 to showcase both products and the latest technologies, the DUBAL -EMAL stand was also used to promote DUBAL 's in-house developed, proprietary DX and DX+ Reduction Technologies that have been implemented on an industrial scale at EMAL Phase I and Phase II respectively. In addition, the event was leveraged as a networking forum to meet with existing and potential new suppliers.
