Information

Peak Deutschland GmbH was founded in Nossen, Saxony, at the beginning of 2007. We are involved in the development and distribution of environmentally friendly binder systems for mold and core production in the foundry industry. Through our work, we aim to contribute to further improving the environmental friendliness of castings production by replacing organic resin-based binder systems that release pollutants with our inorganic alkali silicate-based products, known as water glass binders. This is not only good for the environment, but also benefits foundry employees, whose working environment is significantly improved.

Our company's activities are based on decades of research and development into silicate and water glass binder systems at the Foundry Institute of the TU Bergakademie Freiberg, which is inextricably linked with the name of Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Eckart Flemming (1929-2004). After German reunification, molding processes using water glass binders and various curing technologies were largely displaced by organic binder systems and were even declared dead on several occasions, but they always retained a place in the range of molding processes used in foundries. A rethinking process has been underway in the industry for several years now.

More and more environmentally conscious foundries, but also casting customers and, last but not least, legislators are pushing hard for the use of environmentally friendly systems in mold and core production. Peak would like to contribute to this with its CC binder systems.

BINDER AND HARDENER

CC S27/S27F

CC S27 is a binder system that is suitable for the production of molds and cores. In the field of core production using the water glass-CO2 process, the system can be used for a range of applications from simple to moderately complex geometries. The CC S27F variant is suitable for the production of cores with increased requirements for the flowability of the molding mixture. The S27 binder system is very well suited for the production of molds using the water glass-ester process. Both continuous and batch mixers can be used for mold material preparation. Molds and self-hardening cores made with CC S27 can be used for all Al, Cu, and Fe alloys.

CC K1 – K7

Seven different hardeners are available for the production of self-hardening molding material mixtures. The processing time of the molding material mixtures decreases in the order of application from K1 to K7. Processing and demolding times can thus be varied from a few minutes to several hours. Fluctuations in climatic conditions can also be compensated for by varying the hardeners used.

CC G4, G5, G6

These binder systems are low-modified water glass binders that differ in their molar ratio of SIO2 : Na2O. These systems are used in mold and core production according to the water glass-ester and water glass-CO2 processes, as well as in non-foundry areas (e.g., steelworks or refractory technology).

CC XP series

The binders in the CC XP series are modified systems that primarily exhibit increased strength, improved disintegration behavior, and increased flow and shooting capabilities in core production using the water glass-CO2 process.

CC VC

The development of the CC VC binder system is intended to give iron foundries, which in many cases are customer foundries with frequently changing product ranges, the option of using inorganically bonded cores. A key aspect here is the elimination of expensive heated steel core production tools, which are only justified in large-scale production. The binder system used is an alkali silicate or water glass-based binder that has been modified with a whole range of oxides and contains no organic components whatsoever. The molding material is solidified exclusively by gassing with air heated to approx. 160°C. The binder is a single-component binder that can be dosed in amounts of less than 2.0% without additional additives. Also a special version für aluminium casting is available.
