Imerys Metalcasting, a world-leading supplier of green moulding sand additives, attended with great success the 2. Formstoff-Forum 2018 held on March 7th and 8th in Aachen, Germany. This key industry event, organized by BDG and VDG, with focus on moulding materials (Formstoffe) brought together more than 400 experts from the German-speaking foundry industry.
Imerys participated in the Forum with a booth in the conference hall of the RWTH Aachen, as well as inviting visitors to animated discussions with in-depth technical expertise about their wide product range of customized blends of bentonites, lustrous carbon formers, and other selected high quality raw materials.
The exchange of information about trends and technological innovations clearly confirmed that the environment is a main topic of concern for the industry. In this respect, Dr. Oleg Podobed, Application Technology Manager at Imerys Germany, held a technical presentation about the environmentally friendly green moulding sand additive ENVIBOND® and the new generation, which improves even more its characteristics.
This pioneering “green” moulding sand technology was launched 10 years ago. ENVIBOND® decreases the amount of organic components in the cycle system and enables the foundry to reduce significantly the emissions during the pouring process and thus to improve the working conditions. In the meantime, especially in the foundry industry, the need for environmentally friendly raw materials and processes has become one of the most important drivers for innovative solutions.
Over the last decade, Imerys Metalcasting has not only implemented ENVIBOND® in the market, but has also continued to work on new products and innovative solutions. In his speech, Dr. Podobed gave an overview about the latest developments and provided an outlook on the next steps to come.
