Alain Reynaud’s “<link _top>Corrosion and <link _top>Cast Irons” is recognised as a major work. It first appeared in 2006 from Editions Techniques des Industries de la Fonderie (ETIF), the CTIF publishing house, and has just been published in English under the title “<link _top>Corrosion & <link _top>Cast Irons” *.

This publication, that gives the latest on the potential of <link _top>cast iron materials in the most varied of environments (natural, chemical, food and other environments), helps identify the <link _top>alloy to satisfy well defined conditions for use, from the most ordinary to the severest. It includes a wealth of documentation, with more than 150 tables and figures, 6 appendices and 272 bibliographical references, and is the first document of this importance on the topic. Alain Reynaud’s book was acclaimed when it came out in France and now that it has been translated into English it will give precious help to <link _top>foundrymen worldwide as they face the same challenges in finding materials capable of allowing for the development of reliable technologies that respect the environment while also being economically profitable.

Alain Reynaud has a doctorate in <link _top>metallurgy and is also the author of a thesis on <link _top>corrosion under stress of <link _top>ferrous alloys. Within CTIF he occupies the function of technology watch manager, after having been responsible for the <link _top>cast irons department. Alain Reynaud is also member of the Société Française de Métallurgie et Matériaux, the Association Technique de <link _top>Fonderie and the Centre Français de l’anticorrosion.
