Bangladesh - Call for promoting foundry industry in Bogra

Entrepreneurs and media stressed the need for exploring the huge potential of the <link _top>foundry industry in Bogra and urged the government to take immediate measures for promoting the industry.

They were speaking at a view-exchange meeting on <link _top>'foundry industry in Bogra: problems and prospects' jointly organised by <link _top>Foundry Owners' Association of Bangladesh (FOAB), Business Reporters' Network (BRN) and Management and Resources Development Initiative (MRDI) at Bashar Metal Auditorium in BSCIC Industrial Estate, Bogra recently.

FOAB President Ainul Haque Sohel, Shamakal Bureau Chief (Bogra) Mohon Akhand and the Sangbad district correspondent AHM Akhtaruzzaman presented the keynote papers as the BRN members.

The Janakantha deputy chief reporter Kawser Rahman moderated the programme.

The speakers said the <link _top>foundry industry in Bogra supplies 90 per cent of the centrifugal pumps used in irrigation across the country.

Besides, 85 per cent spare parts of power tillers and other agricultural machinery are manufactured in the northern district. The industry employs around 0.2 million people and helps the livelihood of over 0.5 million people.
