Landshut. The BMW Group plant in Landshut presents its environmental statement for the 2024 reporting year, documenting its activities in the field of environmental and climate protection. The report was audited by independent experts from TÜV SÜD Umweltgutachter GmbH and is now available on the BMW Group Landshut plant website under “Sustainability and Energy Efficiency.”
In 2024, the plant was able to reduce its energy consumption by around 6 percent compared to the previous year. These savings are the result of targeted optimization measures and investments in more energy-efficient technologies.
In addition, a continuous reduction in water consumption has been achieved in recent years, underlining the plant's commitment to responsible use of natural resources.
“We at the BMW Group plant in Landshut are determined to do our part to protect our environment,” emphasizes Thomas Thym, site manager of the plant. “Through continuous optimization of our production processes and the implementation of additional measures, we aim to further reduce our energy consumption and continuously reduce our carbon footprint.” The light metal foundry, the plant's largest production area, has significantly reduced its natural gas consumption and CO2 emissions. Optimizing the melting and holding temperatures of the aluminum has led to significant energy savings.
