To meet growing customer needs, Cold Jet - the worldwide leading manufacturer of high performance, reliable dry ice cleaning and production equipment – developed the new R1000H pellet-to-slice reformer. Built by combining technologies of the SL1000H slice maker and R3000 reformer, the R1000H pellet-to-slice reformer is equipped with numerous technological innovations and is designed to be an ideal solution for dry ice pellet businesses who want to diversify dry ice production capabilities by adding slice and mini-block dry ice to the product program.
The R1000H has the flexibility to reform from 3 to 16 mm (1/8” - 5/8”) dry ice pellets into high quality dry ice slices/mini blocks - ranging from 0.25 kg (0.55 lbs) up to 3.3 kg (7.28 lbs). The R1000H reformer can do up to 1,000 press cycles per hour and produce up to 1,000 kg (2,204 lbs) of dry ice per hour, depending on slice format and the pellet volume supply. The stainless steel machine has special features, such as an enclosed cabinet and insulated hopper, which ensure dry ice density and low sublimation rate.

The R1000H utilizes the Beckhoff Industrial PC, which includes a 15” color touch panel optimized for easy and intelligent operation via multi-lingual context. Via the HMI screen, the user can adjust slice thickness from 16 mm up to 90 mm (5/8” up to 3 ½”). The R1000H reformer incorporates a unique Quick Change Press Head that enables the slice dimension to be changed in less than 15 minutes. Additionally, dual and triple slice press heads provide optimal production capacity at slice formats as low as example a 0.3 kg (0.66 lbs) slice.

The machine is driven by a powerful hydraulic system, which combines a frequency-controlled piston pump with a power regulator and cartridge valves for high flow on low pressure movements.”
With an exit slice conveyor, the R1000H can easily be integrated into current production environments, for example a one-line feed to packaging machinery. When business demands grow, it is possible to expand from low output with just one pelletizer to high volume production with multiple pelletizers feeding the reformer. By combining existing or new dry ice production equipment or a flow packer machine, it extends market opportunities in a variety of dry ice user application in many industries.
Reforming pellets into slices reduces dry ice consumable cost and is a simplified and safer process compared with traditional block cutting which in many regions is a manual operator process. The pellet-to-slice reforming process eliminates the hazards of cutting blocks and reduces CO2 waste significantly.
