EUR - Fanuc Named a Top Global Innovator by Thomson Reuters

Fanuc Corp., a diversified global manufacturer of CNC systems, robots and machine tools, was recently named by Thomson Reuters as a 2011 Top 100 Global InnovatorSM. The honour was the second recognition for innovation that Fanuc received in 2011.

This new Thomson Reuters Global Innovators programme is an initiative that recognizes the world’s most innovative organizations through analysis of patent data and related metrics in a proprietary methodology. The innovation performance of companies that invent on a significant scale, work on developments acknowledged as innovative by others around the world, and protect their inventions are globally is evaluated.

Patent approval success rate, global reach of the patent portfolio, patent influence in literature citations, and overall patent volume were the four principal criteria on which the methodology for selection of the Thomson Reuters 2011 Top 100 Global Innovators was based. Also, comparative financial analysis was performed using the Thomson Reuters Eikon platform.

Fanuc was additionally named by Forbes magazine as one of the top 100 companies in 2011, making that publication’s “World’s Most Innovative Companies” list.
