Professor Rafał Dańko has been elected President of the World Foundry Organization (WFO) for the 2026–2027 term.

As reported by the Stowarzyszenie Techniczne Odlewników Polskich (STOP), Professor Rafał Dańko has been elected President of the World Foundry Organization (WFO) for the 2026–2027 term.

Professor Dańko currently serves as President of STOP, Vice-Rector of AGH University of Krakow, and previously held the position of Dean of the Faculty of Foundry Engineering at AGH. He is the author of more than 350 scientific publications and holds ten patents. His professional work focuses on foundry technologies, additive manufacturing, recycling of moulding sands, and sustainable, low-emission production, with a strong emphasis on linking research and industrial practice.

According to STOP, the priorities of Professor Dańko’s presidency include strengthening international cooperation, supporting technological excellence and digital transformation, promoting sustainable and responsible foundry production, reinforcing cooperation between industry and academia, and encouraging the active involvement of young professionals in the global foundry community.

Professor Dańko’s term coincides with a significant milestone for the World Foundry Organization. In 2026, the WFO will mark its 100th anniversary, which is to be celebrated during the 76th World Foundry Congress in Turkey. STOP notes that this anniversary provides an opportunity both to reflect on the organization’s history and to discuss future directions for the global foundry industry.
