Responsible environmental management at DIAG

The medium-sized company Diesner Aluminiumgießerei GmbH & Co KG, also known as DIAG, has recently been certified according to the international environmental management standard ISO 14001.

Unusual for a foundry of this size, the West German company has accepted responsibility for the environment and has initiated a continual process of improvement. Although issues such as the reduction of energy and water consumption, the reduction of emissions, the minimisation of the volume of waste and the improvement of ground water protection have played a central role for the company in the past, these will now, after clearly defined targets and process guidelines have been established, be continually implemented, inspected and optimised if necessary.

The family company, which employs over 80 people, will thus have quality standards which are usually only applied in large foundries, involving casting simulation, x-ray inspection, vacuum seal inspection and spectral and thermal analysis. An important fact for the automobile industry is that the company is also certified according to the ISO/TS 16949 standard, which regulates the technical specifications for quality management systems of suppliers.
