Dear Customers and Suppliers:

The State of Illinois Executive Order 2020-10 of 20 March, 2020 outlining the State response to the COVID-19 outbreak in Illinois requires that all individuals remain at home or their place of residence through 7th April, 2020. The provisions of this order to not apply to the operation of Essential Businesses and Operations and Minimum Basic Operations. Examples of these Essential Businesses include those that are involved in the “Manufacture, distribution, and supply chain for critical products and industries” (section 12.t) which include “Manufacturing companies, distributors, and supply chain companies producing and supplying essential products and services in and for industries such as pharmaceutical, technology, biotechnology, healthcare, chemicals and sanitization, waste pickup and disposal, agriculture, food and beverage, transportation, energy, steel and steel products, petroleum and fuel, mining, construction, national defense, communications as well as products used by other Essential Businesses and Operations.” The US Department of Homeland Security recognizes manufacturing as a critical infrastructure sector stating “the critical manufacturing sector is crucial to the economic prosperity and continuity of the United States. The disruption of certain elements of the manufacturing industry could disrupt essential functions at the national level and across multiple critical infrastructure sectors.

As a global supplier of process mixing technology to the foundry and chemical process industries the machinery, spare parts and technical services we provide the producers in these industries are vital to their continuity of operations. Our foundry customers are directly involved in national defense, medical equipment, food processing equipment, transportation (production of cars, trucks, utility vehicles, ambulances, fire trucks, etc.), electric power and energy generation systems, construction, oil & gas, mining, municipal/water infrastructure, etc. Our chemical process industry customers produce food, pharmaceuticals, fertilizer, batteries, petroleum, construction materials, military explosives, etc.

While Simpson understands that the safety and well-being of employees must be everyone’s’ top priority it is also critical that we maintain the ability to supply vital production equipment, spare parts and services to our customers. Fortunately, Simpson has invested heavily in advanced data processing and communication technologies in recent years. Both Simpson Technologies Corporation in the US and Simpson Technologies (Deutschland) GmbH in Germany operate on a cloud based version of the Microsoft Dynamics D365 software. All Simpson employees can access Microsoft Dynamics, email and other vital business information via the cloud. As a result, we have dispersed 90+% of our workforce to work from home while maintaining the minimal staff and infrastructure in our business locations to continue to receive and ship parts and equipment from our global supplier network. We remain open and ready to serve our valued customers during these unprecedented times.

Be safe. Be well.
