Molded Magnesium Products LLC (MMP), Jackson, Mich., announced it has added CNC machining, metal finishing, powder coating, prototyping, and engineering and design services to its specialty casting capabilities.
MMP was formed as a joint venture between diecaster Mag-Tec Casting Corp., Jackson, Mich., and Thixomat Inc., Ann Arbor, Mich., the developer of the Thixomolding injection molding process. The Thixomolding process is used to produce castings with elevated material properties. MMP uses the process to cast components for the electronics, sporting goods, defense and automotive markets.
“We’re now providing a full-service capability to meet the global demand for high-precision engineering components as a replacement for plastics, die castings and parts machined from tool plate,” said Bill Wilson, general manager of MMP.
MMP’s manufacturing operation includes a 245-ton, 310-ton and 720-ton Thixomolding machine.
