Five years ago, BMW Group installed a TF 5700+, at the time the largest high-pressure die-casting (HPDC) machine in Europe. This installation marked a significant step in advanced die-casting technology. The TF 5700+ quickly became a cornerstone for high-precision production. Its ability to deliver stable, repeatable performance on large and complex castings ensured consistently high quality, while its reliability allowed manufacturers to meet tight production schedules. Notably, the machine enabled the redesign of a crash-resistant battery housing, transforming a previous 16-piece assembly into a single, lightweight aluminum part. This achievement reduced weight, simplified production, and enhanced safety—demonstrating the precision and power that ItalpresseGauss machines can provide.
A new chapter with the TFs 5200
Building on this success, IPG has been commissioned to supply a TFs 5200 to BMW Group, a machine engineered to deliver high efficiency and exceptional precision for large, complex structural components. The TFs 5200 offers:
- Premium steel platens with high hardness, ensuring durability and optimal performance under heavy production loads
- High closing forces in a compact footprint, allowing maximum productivity without sacrificing factory space
- The SC4 shot-end system, providing precise injection control to minimize scrap and maintain part quality
- ECOFIT technology for lower energy consumption and CO₂ emissions, supporting BMW’s sustainability goals
- Reliable, easy-to-maintain design with lighter components that reduce downtime
- A service partnership, ensuring expert support whenever needed
