Thailand scrap imports down by 38pct MoM in February

According to data, Thailand imported 151,000 tonnes of scrap in February 2012, decreasing by 14.7% YoY and also falling by 38% MoM.

Among them, 40,000 tonnes were from the US, down by 61.7% YoY; 16,000 tonnes were from Philippines, increasing 11783.9% YoY and 9,000 tonnes were from Puerto Rico, up by 343.9% YoY.

In the first two months of 2012, Thailand imported 394,000 tonnes of scrap, rising by 11.4% YoY.

Among them, 94,000 tonnes were imported from the US, down by 47% YoY; 49,000 tonnes were from the UAE, increasing by 685.5% YoY; 47,000 tonnes were from Australia, surging by 754.1% YoY; 38,000 tonnes were from Philippines, soaring by 6835.3% YoY; 20,000 tonnes were from Japan, jumping by 61.837.7% YoY and 15,000 tonnes were from Cambodia, up by 6.2% YoY.
