The Continuous Casting Machines the only ones with vacuum and/or quattro drive

Reading time: min

At Baselworld 2015 Indutherm presented a totally new generation of its VCC Vacuum Continuous Casting systems which produce strip, wire or tubes in top quality without any impurities such as oxides.

Not only is the melting process performed under vacuum using inert gas, any undesired oxidation in the hot continuously cast material is effectively prevented when it emerges from the die. The product is flushed with protective gas in the cooling system directly at the exit from the die and the entire process is monitored by a sophisticated temperature measurement.

All other components were further developed on the three different VCC models which have crucible volumes ranging from 0.3 to 3.4 litres. Efficiency has been much improved in the new generation and operation is by means of an LC display with convenient operator guidance, program control and memory capacities to make repetitive production steps easier and to ensure constant material quality.

Indutherm highlights the further improved Quattro drive of the drawing unit which is now available on the smallest VCC system. The semi-finished product is withdrawn uniformly and gently from the system. This offers constant material quality throughout, requires less effort for further processing and ultimately reduces costs in all downstream production steps.

More flexibility, lower costs Indutherm continuous casting machines help you to save production costs.
With only one machine, you can produce your own alloys or semi-finished products in different shapes and sizes in the shortest time, for example:

  • wires or bars in every diameter you need, up to ø 85 mm (CC 1000/3000)
  • sheets and strips, e.g. ring production, for stamping and pressing
  • tubes, perfect as basic material for cutting in sections for wedding ring production
  • granulates

As the desired parts and alloys can be produced within minutes, you can reduce your investment for material in storage. Your processes will get faster, more flexible and more efficient. With optionally available equipment as for example sintering set for diffusion bonding and granulation tank the versatility of these machines may be enhanced even more.

The new CC/VCC generation 2015: improved for even higher quality

The new CC/VCC machines are equipped with new and highly efficient induction generators. Thanks to a new control panel with full text LCD display, all parameters are very easy and convenient to set (100 casting programs).

To reduce the risk of oxidation during melting and during drawing, the new machines are equipped with inert gas function, vacuum system for the melting chamber (VCC), optical die temperature measurement, die cooler with inert gas flushing and additional secondary cooling system. All these measures are ideal especially for alloys containing copper such as red gold or for silver as these materials tend to oxidise easily. Degasification under a vacuum results in a substantially improved – because of the absence of oxidation – semi-finished product.

Optional quattro drive system

The optional drawing unit with four instead of two motor driven feed rolls produce smoother tubes and sheeting with reduced marks of transportation. This system is available now for each CC or VCC machine.
