The newly built production hall of the KSM Castings Group has officially started production today after a construction period of nine months. An investment of 13 million euros and the creation of 30 new jobs at the site illustrates the relevance of the headquarters of the company in Hildesheim.
The two new production lines also represents the innovative power of KSM. "KSM is the first supplier to the automotive industry which provides the machining of gear housings made of magnesium. Our company will produce approximately 340,000 9-speed automatic transmission casing made of magnesium per year on 1,400 square meters with advanced production technology", informed Franz Friedrich Butz, CEO of KSM Castings Group. "Every 50 seconds a component will be manufactured. The two new production lines mean a substantial increase in real net output ratio since in the past only blanks were delivered to our customers. The entire processing line is highly automated. The machinery includes six machining centers and robots and three testing facilities, "adds Dr. Marc Mateika, plant manager of the KSM Castings Group in Hildesheim.
