Six categories show the versatility of die-cast zinc. After the presentation of the nominations in autumn, here are the winners every week. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, we were unable to hold the award at the EUROGUSS trade fair this time. We will catch up on the presentation of the award-winning castings live at the summer EUROGUSS in June.
Smart Home is becoming an increasingly important part of our daily lives. A large number of household appliances, from dishwashers to water purifiers, can now be operated via smartphones. Why not also window and door fittings?
With the innovative, fully electronic door locking system INSTINCT, we have succeeded in developing such a system. The challenge was to develop a system of the highest security class in terms of burglary protection that fits into a door rebate in the smallest of spaces. Furthermore, it required a construction that offers sufficient space for the electronics without neglecting the requirements for strength and accuracy. Groß-Druckguss GmbH succeeded in this challenge.
Two materials are used to achieve the required strength of the highest security class. In the implementation, a steel insert is cast in zinc. In order to avoid deformations due to different expansion properties, a pre-tempered steel core is inserted in the fully automatic production. This combined casting replaces a milled full part product. The combination of materials offers the designer advantages in product design and cost calculation.
With the INSTINCT system, the manufacturer MACO is striving to revolutionize system technology in the field of security and locking technology. The patent-pending system is the first system that completely dispenses with a mechanical key.
Congratulations to the entire large die-casting team for the implementation of this innovative component!
