TITAL® Signs a Contract with BAYERN-CHEMIE

"This order will contribute to a strong financial backlog, provide a sustainable base for the growing production capacity and also provide job security at TITAL's production facility in Bestwig, Germany."

TITAL and BAYERN-CHEMIE conducted a very comprehensive concurrent engineering process which led to a successful development phase where the design has been optimized to assure cost-effective manufacturing and assembly. TITAL will deliver assembly ready subsystems in 2008 directly to the customers production line.

Under the terms of the agreement, TITAL will provide six complex titanium investment castings that make up the two air intake ducts on the high performance air-to-air combat missile Meteor. The main success of Meteor is the throttleable ducted rocket motor by BAYERN-CHEMIE, offering high performance with variable thrust for maneuvering and delivering under a wide range of launch conditions.

The Meteor was developed for European Partner Nations of the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Sweden for use on Eurofighter-Typhoon, Swedish Saab Gripen and French Rafale aircraft. The prime contractor is MBDA (UK).

In order to satisfy the growing demand in the aerospace sector for titanium components TITAL has expanded their production capacity. The latest addition has added over 45,000 sq. ft. of operational floor space and equipment. A new titanium casting furnace is in the final assembly stage and will be installed in the third quarter 2008. The new furnace will allow TITAL to offer it’s customers complex titanium investment castings up to 60in and pour weights up to 330lbs.
