Tokyo Steel cuts scrap purchase prices by JPY 1000 at five works

TEX reported that Japan's largest electric steelmaker Tokyo Steel Mfg Co has reduced what the company pays for locally available ferrous scrap by a uniform JPY 1,000 per tonne for all grades of arrivals at its five works, effective with March 11th 2011 purchases, which indicates the company's purchase price reduction of local ferrous scrap for the first time in four and a half months since October 2010.

As a result, the new delivered prices of No 2 HMS are JPY 41,000 per tonne for seaborne arrivals and JPY 40,500 per tonne for overland arrivals at the Okayama works; JPY 40,000 per tonne for seaborne overland arrivals at the Kyushu works; JPY 38,500 per tonne for seaborne overland arrivals at the Takamatsu works; JPY 40,000 per tonne for seaborne overland arrivals at the Tahara works and JPY 39,500 per tonne for overland arrivals at the Utsunomiya works.
