According to the statistics, during February and March of 2009 Turkey exported steel products of over 1.97 million tonnes to the Arabic countries up by 36.8% compared to the same period of 2008. Among the Arabic countries, Egypt imported steel products of 687,413 tonnes from Turkey, among which the rebar accounting for 610,680 tonnes. The UAE followed Egypt, importing Turkey origin steel products of 246,485 tonnes down by 73.69% on 2008. During February and March, the finished products like rebar, section, wire rod and HRC exported from Turkey to the Arabic countries totaled 1.7 million tonnes down by 44.62% on 2008.
