Dalton Corp., a <link _top>foundry headquartered in the northern Indiana city of Warsaw, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection from creditors.
More than 200 workers will lose their jobs when the <link _top>foundry shuts down in March. The company cites the recession and a weak market for its products as reasons for the decision.
Dalton Corp.'s Web site says it supplies <link _top>gray iron castings for air conditioning/refrigeration, engines, gear boxes, stationary transmissions and heavy-duty truck transmissions.
Dalton operates two <link _top>gray iron foundries, located in Warsaw and Kendallville, Indiana and one machining facility located in Stryker, Ohio. The Warsaw and Kendallville <link _top>foundries produce 200,000 tons of <link _top>castings annually, ranging from 5 to 600 lbs. The Stryker machining facility machines and assembles components for the automotive, refrigeration and appliance markets.
Dalton is owned by Neenah, Wis.-based Neenah <link _top>Foundry Corp., which is owned by ACP Holding GmbH of Germany.
