NADCA, The North American <link _top>Die Casting Association, has awarded fourteen students with a combined scholarship of $42,000.

"We are pleased to present each of these students with a $3,000 Laine Scholarship - some deserved financial help, and relief, in these economic times," stated Daniel L. Twarog, President of NADCA. He continued, "A significant part of what we do at NADCA is to promote the <link _top>die casting industry and represent those who work in it. Where better to do that but through building the industry's young and emerging talent."

In recent years there has been increased interest and applications for the Laine Scholarship. Those who receive this prestigious award are better positioned to focus on their academics and career development. Indeed, the Laine Scholarship has also had a significant impact on retaining talent in metal casting: More than 75% of the past scholarship recipients have gone on to work in <link _top>die casting.

Founded in 1975 as a tribute to David Laine, Secretary to the forerunner of NADCA for 29 years, the Laine Scholarship Fund is supported entirely by corporate, individual contributions, and pledges from the <link _top>die casting community. To qualify for this scholarship, eligible students must write a paper on their involvement and their work in the <link _top>die casting industry, as well as submit letters of support.

In addition to its efforts to reinforce the <link _top>die cast industry's commitment to students in metal casting, NADCA has a dedicated site for current and past Scholarship recipients at <link http: www.diecasting.org scholarship>www.diecasting.org/scholarship. New applicants are welcome anytime; deadline is October of each year with winners notified at time of press release.
