Reading time: min

WAUKESHA, Wis. (AP) - A federal workplace-safety agency has cited a Waukesha steel foundry for 14 alleged safety and health violations.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration has proposed fines of $83,160 against Castalloy Inc. The company has 15 business days to comply with the fines, contest the citations or request a conference with OSHA.

OSHA says the company committed two repeat violations related to exposure to harmful chemicals. The alleged violations announced this week were the result of an inspection last November.

Other alleged violations included workers using inadequate safety equipment and employees being exposed to formaldehyde for more than eight hours.

OSHA says the steel foundry has about 130 workers. The agency also says 6 of the Castalloy's previous 13 inspections resulted in citations.

A message left with Castalloy was not immediately returned.
