Ryobi Die Casting Inc. (Shelbiville, USA) – leading company in manufacturing high-pressure aluminum die castings for the automotive industry - asked Magaldi to investigate the possibility to retrofit the existing vibrating conveyors with the dependable Magaldi Superbelt® technology to handle aluminum sprues coming from the high pressure die casting machine.
Ryobi was looking for a more reliable solution for the new UBE high pressure die casting machine. The project aimed at decreasing installed power, increasing operating hours and the overall plant efficiency while reducing maintenance and cleaning costs related to the vibrating conveyors and improving the environmental quality of the working area since there was a lot of built up material coming from the vibrating conveyors.
Magaldi met the Customer’s requirement by installing a Superbelt® conveyor, approximately 20 meters long, to convey the sprues falling from the de-gating station of the UBE machine up to the discharging area.
The project development was very challenging due to the available tight space: all conveyors were located in several pits below the high pressure die casting machines so, to avoid to step inside the pit, a technology requiring minimum maintenance was needed.
