DISRUPTING THE DISRUPTORS, LOW COST 3D METAL PRINTING

The Virtual Foundry’s newly patented high metal composite filaments create pure metal 3D Prints with common, off-the-shelf FDM printers. This novel solution to a complex problem has sparked a movement in low-cost, high quality, 3d metal printing. TVF customers are actively developing solutions in industries like electric vehicles, oil refining, injection molding and nuclear power, to name a few. The Virtual Foundry’s innovative materials are fueling a movement that’s expanding at an incredible pace.

Over the past 4 years The Virtual Foundry has been quietly deploying its open architecture materials to a highly receptive industrial, academic and research community around the world. TVF is currently working with labs inside of companies like ZF North America, NASA and The Department of Defense to bring its patented technology to full potential. Each month we are seeing advanced development and third-party research becoming available from UCLA, The University of Wisconsin and researchers all over the world.

“As we progress, our customers have begun to outpace our rate of development for improved sintering processes. In response we’ve moved our focus to releasing new materials and facilitating open collaboration with our broad range of customers. Our research department now comprises a sort of metallurgical dream-team with access to knowledge and lab equipment that a startup like ours couldn’t dream of bringing in-house.” -Bradley Woods, Founder

The Virtual Foundry sells materials and equipment needed to sinter 3d prints into pure metal. They provide stock and custom sintering furnaces. The largest ordered so far is a full cubic meter. This furnace will produce the largest metal parts ever FDM 3D Printed. (More to come on that.)

One last bit of news. The Virtual Foundry has entered a joint-venture with Vulcan GMS, a global leader in lead products. TVF developed a patented, high density filament that equals the radiation shielding power of pure lead right off the printer. This Tungsten composite product is available now by request.

“Recently granted patents set a solid baseline of intellectual property. Between our IP and development partners The Virtual Foundry is bringing FDM Metal printing into the mainstream.” -Tricia Suess, President

Nominations for 3D Printing Awards 2019 are open now. Let us know if The Virtual Foundry is your choice for material company of the year.
