Iranian aluminum output in first 5 months up by 6pct YoY

Tehran Times reported that some 127,683 tonnes of aluminum have been produced in the first 5 months of current Iranian calendar year. As per report, the amount shows 6% increase in comparison to the same period in the previous year. The Almahdi Aluminium Company exported 32,283 tonnes of aluminum worth USD 70,977,000 in the mentioned period. The amount shows a 5% increase in terms of volume and 53% rise in terms of value.

Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Developing and Renovation Organization exported 39,619 tonnes of aluminum worth USD 84,468,000 in the 5 month period. The figures showed 3% increase in terms of volume and 37% rise in terms of value. The largest and the most advanced aluminum plant of Iran, Hormozal was inaugurated on January 9 in the southern city of Bandar Abbas. Hormozal aluminum plant with the annual production capacity of 147,000 tonnes came on stream at the cost of EUR 400 million in imports of services and parts and about IRR 2 trillion in domestic cost.

IMIDRO said in a statement that the 230 KA technologies has been applied in the project. Hormozal would add some 47% to the country’s annual production capacity boosting it to 457,000 tonnes from the previous figure of 310,000. The plant is JV between Iran and Italy. The giant project would create 7,700 direct and indirect jobs.
