Mourning Heinz-Peter Schlüter of Trimet Aluminium SE

Trimet Aluminium SE is mourning Heinz-Peter Schlüter. The founder and owner of the Aluminium specialists passed away on 29 November 2015 from serious illness at the age of 66 years. This loss meets the Trimet family with great pain and deep sorrow. Heinz-Peter Schlüter has created the Trimet and led the firm to continuous growth. He formed a family oriented company, which is seldom.

Heinz-Peter Schlüter founded Trimet in 1985 as a metals trading company and began with three employees. In the nineties, the company joined with the takeover of the aluminum smelter in Essen and the recycling factory in Gelsenkirchen in the aluminum production. Also through further takeovers Schlüter protected production facilities from being closed, secured jobs and proved that the aluminum production and processing in Europe is sustainable. Today the Trimet Aluminium SE operates four aluminum smelters, two recycling plants and a number of foundries at eight locations in Germany and France. With nearly 3,000 employees, the materials specialist has become a leading European aluminum producers.

Schlüter always handled entrepreneurial activity with social commitment. A few weeks ago he brought a training initiative into action. In the coming years it will provide an apprenticeship to 66 refugees at Trimet and prepare them with language courses and support measures on life in Germany.

Heinz-Peter Schlüter took great care to preserve the self-image of Trimet given the enormous growth and diversification. Before he retired from operational management of his company, he ensured that the long term Trimet endures and retains its character as an independent family. Despite sorrow, management is convinced that the special spirit of Trimet that its founder Heinz-Peter Schlüter has influenced and promoted, will determine and guide the company in the future. Family, management and supervisory boards will continue Trimet in his spirit.
