With the theme of “Joint Innovation and win-win Cooperation”, the 2nd Belt and Road Foundry Industry Forum on Cooperation and Development revolved around the exchanges of experiences on foundry industrial policies, sustainable development, and capacity cooperation among countries along the “Belt and Road”. It was sponsored by China Foundry Association, and co-organized by the Peoples’ Government of Hancheng Municipality, Foundry Committee of Belt and Road Industrial, and Commercial Alliance and the Belt and Road Committee of China Foundry Association.
More than 200 people from the government, enterprises, international foundry organizations and media attended the forum. Government officials attending the forum included Mr. Li Yikai, the Head of Planning Division of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, Mr. Zhang Libo, Vice President of China Machinery Industry Federation and the Standing Vice President of China Foundry Association, Mr. Song Xiaogang, Executive Vice President of China Machinery Industry Federation, Mr. Li Zhaoli, Associate Counsel of Shaanxi Industry and Information Department, the chief supervisor of CFA and the National Innovation Center for the Intelligent Foundry Industry, the Chairman of KOCEL Group Mr. Peng Fan, Mr. Sun Changhong, Deputy Mayor of Hancheng City, as well as other officials from the Hancheng government. International guests came from 10 countries including Germany, Japan, Belgium, Mongolia, Pakistan, Turkey, Russia, Vietnam, and England. The forum was hosted by the Vice Secretary General of CFA Mr. Gao Wei.
Mr. Zhang Libo welcomed all on behalf of the organizers, saying that since the first Belt and Road forum last year, China Foundry Association has carried out a series of programs; international foundry park construction, general contracts, technology cooperation, and business trade cooperation.
Mr. Zhang Libo stated: “There are several highlights of this forum. The forum provides access for attending enterprises to know more about international policies, laws and standards, as well as provides a platform for them to talk about further cooperation. The foundry industry capacity cooperation along ‘Belt and Road’ is not a problem of capacity transfer. What the Chinese foundry industry faces now will also be the problems other developing countries meet in the future. In this respect, we should develop in a green and intelligent way and take advantage of the Internet + Foundry to promote the industrial park construction along Belt and Road.”
Mr. Li Yikai introduced the work that the Ministry has carried out in promoting the Belt and Road initiative, emphasizing that the Chinese manufacturing industry is facing great opportunities and challenges in “going out”, such as the complex global investment and changing business environment. He pointed out that enterprises should grasp the opportunity and respond actively to the difficulties of “going out”.
Another highlight of the forum was two signed agreements; one between China Foundry Association and Pakistan Foundry Association, to help strengthen the cooperation and communication between China and Pakistan; another agreement between China Foundry Association and Albert & Geiger, in order to provide consultation services of law and regulations for foundry enterprises entering the EU.
Sustainable Development Evaluation Research of Countries along the Belt and Road
Mr. Wang Xiaoguang, the Secretary General of Enterprise Social Responsibility Research Think-tank of China Federation of Industrial Economics, introduced six aspects in carrying out the Belt and Road initiative: the significance of sustainable development, the five-dimension model of sustainable development evaluation, sustainable development indicators system, the evaluation methods, the sustainable development evaluation of countries along Belt and Road, as well as countermeasures and suggestions.
Equipment Manufacturing Industry to Promote the Construction of Belt and Road
Mr. Song Xiaogang, Vice President of China Machinery Industry Federation, said that the Chinese machinery industry needs to transform and upgrade, in a time where the Chinese economy is entering a new normal, and that Chinese enterprises have been equipped to “going out”. He pointed out that the machinery industry should go out in a collective and synergic way in order to deal with various risks and challenges. He also encouraged the industry association to play its role.
"Favourable climatic, geographical and human conditions"--Hancheng Foundry Industrial Park to Support the "Belt and Road" Capacity Cooperation Mr. Ding Hui, Chairman of Hancheng Foundry Industrial Park, introduced the Belt and Road programs carried out in Shaanxi. He made a comprehensive introduction of the Hancheng High-end Foundry Industrial Park and invited the foundry companies to invest in Hancheng.
Grasp the Opportunity of Belt and Road Initiative and Speed Up the Realization to be a Foundry Power Nation
Ms. Fan Qi, Exec. Vice President of China Foundry Association, introduced the foundry industry’s situation of countries along Belt and Road, with casting data of 14 countries including India, Pakistan, Russia, Thailand, South Africa, the United States, Germany and Japan and compared it with China. She also introduced that the work has been carried out and the services can be provided by China Foundry Association.
Standard, Certification & Accreditation Support the "Belt and Road" Industrial Capacity Cooperation
Mr. Cao Shi, Section Chief of China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment introduced the Certification & Accreditation policies and CNAS international mutual accreditation, the national standardization reform and CNAS method confirmation, etc.
The Belt and Road: A Chance for Removing Regulatory Obstacles to China-EU Trade and Investment
The Government Affair Counselor of Alber & Geiger, Mr. Steivan Defilla, explained the main business of Albert & Geiger, major changes and future prospects under EU framework conditions, how to receive support and provide assistance for Chinese companies to enter the EU.
Advanced Technology Improves the Foundry Industry along Belt and Road
Mr. Wei Baohua, Senior Vice President of Norican Group Asia Pacific, said the Chinese manufacturing has the strength and conditions to “going out”. The Belt and Road initiative provides a new approach for the transfer of domestic overcapacity and will help the manufacturing industry’s transform and upgrade. The advanced foundry technology will fully improve the manufacturing because foundry industry is the basis of manufacturing. The integrated foundry solution is the key to improve the overall manufacturing industry. Norican Group is able to provide great technology support to the foundry industry.
After the keynote reports, there were two dialogues around the topics of “Silk Road Economic Belt” and “21st Century Maritime Silk Road”. In the “Silk Road Economic Belt” dialogue, the representatives exchanged views on the practice of Belt and Road programs including China-Mongolia foundry industry cooperation practice and Russian cooperation project, the media’s service and role, and discussed how to deal with the obstacles to go out. In the “21st Century Maritime Silk Road” dialogue, the Pakistan representative introduced the current situation of Pakistan’s foundry industry and the training school. The Turkey representative also introduced the Turkey foundry industry’s development. And the Chinese expert in Standardization Mr. Qiang Yi introduced how standardization can play its role with the Belt and Road initiative.
On Sep. 2, the international match making program was held and provided a face-to-face opportunity for attendees to talk with the experts from Pakistan, Mongolia, and Turkey and receive more information of industrial policies and cooperation projects.
