ABP receives major order from China

6 each IFM7/13.4 ton capacity furnaces with TWIN-POWER® systems

The China National Heavy Duty Truck Group Hangzhou Engine Co. Ltd. (CNHTC) has commissioned ABP Induction with the installation of 6 each IFM7/13.4 ton capacity furnaces with TWIN-POWER® systems.

At its plant in Hangzhou, CNHTC produces high-performance truck engines. Grey, nodular and vermicular iron qualities are to be melted in the new installation. Hangzhou is only a 2-hour drive from Shanghai and with its 6 million residents it is considered the most romantic city in China. Even Marco Polo in the 13th century is said to have described the city as the "most beautiful and greatest city in the world".

The first contact between the two companies was at the GIFA 2007 foundry trade fair in Düsseldorf. ABP was able to secure the order against well-known competitors. The technically most advanced melt processor currently available, the PRODAPT®-MD, the low energy consumption, local service and 24-pulse converter version to eliminate interfering harmonics were the deciding factors which ultimately made the difference. The contract for the two TWIN-POWER® systems including assembly and commissioning was signed on 18th February 2008. The equipment is to be delivered before the end of this year. Dipl.-Ing. Jürgen Himmelmann, Director of Sales China, notes: "The excellent project coordination and cooperation between ABP Dortmund and ABP Shanghai in particular helped us to win this order. That's what I call Power United!"

The new installation to be built will be the largest induction melt station in China with a capacity of 45 t/h. With this reference station, ABP can now prove its excellent quality and good service in China, too. This is an important step on the way to becoming the market leader in China.
