Under the motto "Chemistry with a difference - the world of foundry chemistry", a total of 15 girls aged between 12 and 16 had the opportunity to take a look behind the scenes at ASK Chemicals. During the day of action, the participating girls at the Hilden, Wülfrath, Bendorf and Fuldabrück sites were given an introduction to the various professional fields of chemistry and engineering.
They carried out interesting experiments and learnt about foundry processes to encourage their enthusiasm for science and technology.
One highlight was the practical part in the ASK Chemicals test foundry in Hilden. There, 8 girls learnt about the world of foundry at first hand at various stations. They mixed sand, moulded the core box and watched iron being cast.
In the chemical laboratories of ASK Chemicals, the schoolgirls carried out chemical experiments with everyday and kitchen objects and learnt what everyday working life is like in a chemical laboratory. In the concluding question-and-answer sessions, the experienced ASK Chemicals employees answered the participants' questions in detail.
"We are delighted that we were able to introduce our industry to young women with an interest in technology on Girls' Day again this year," says Bozena Kaufmann, HR Manager at ASK Chemicals. "We particularly hope that we were able to show the schoolgirls that technical and scientific professions offer exciting career opportunities and that they will pursue their interests in this field."
At the end, each student received a sand figure from the 3D sand lab as a souvenir.
